Muskegon Community College Merlin Media, in conjunction with our education partner, Interact Communications, created a series of different PODs (areas within a website tailored to the presentation preferences and materials needs of specific audience types) plus all of the template pages necessary for their internal web team to totally redevelop and relaunch their college's website.

The templates were all created using custom style sheets (CSS) with no tables used, making all pages 100% compliant with Section 508 of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

First is their new Home page with the three main POD access buttons prominent on the page. Note that the background color used on these buttons is carried through the POD accessed via that button, maintaining a visual identity.

Below that is the Home page of the POD devoted to their Adult Students, sometimes referred to as "mature" students.The main column — the center one — is where all page-by-page materials are placed. Special news and class offering information go into the various left and right columns.

Everything within the different PODs is controlled by a content management system (CMS) that was customized for this project. It provides for browser-easy access and editing by authorized individuals, allows specific information to be posted once and to automatically "flow out" to the appropriate pages and areas within each of the PODs, and maintains control of the appearance and navigation of the website.
